U-Bahn Nürnberg: Der neue G1 - Erste Fahrgastfahrten (U1)

The newest train series of the Nuremberg underground (U-Bahn) operator VAG, the new four-car subway train from Siemens called "G1", was ceremonially handed over for passenger service on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. The train ran between Hasenbuck and Langwasser Süd until about 4 pm. The vehicles were primarily procured for the conventionally operated U1 (Langwasser Süd - Fürth Hardhöhe), but are also prepared for automatic operation (which is used on lines U2 and U3). It replaces the older type DT1 and DT2 cars. With the G1, a four-carriage, walk-through metro train was ordered for the first time, instead of the double railcars used previously. A total of 34 vehicles of the type G1 (G stands for articulated train, by the way) have been ordered and will go into operation by 2022. The first passenger rides took place only between Hasenbuck and Langwasser Süd, now the train type is used on the whole route. Here are a few impressions from inside and outside - includes DT1 and DT3(-F) type. The pictures were taken on the first day of operation with passengers.
