Stretching has several exciting tasks in the life of an athlete and everyone who exercises. The task of stretching is to accelerate regenerative processes in the muscle (wash away accumulated waste of metabolism), soothe the CNS and cardiovascular systems, load compensation, etc. Stretching is a method used to improve mobility in individual joints and to stretch especially shortened muscles. Stretching should be a common part of the movement plan not only for top and professional athletes, but also for amateur and recreational exercisers. Which muscles need stretching? Muscles in the human body tend to fade or contract. Muscles that have an erect function of the body (= antigravity function) are shortened. Muscles that have more red muscle fibers are more durable under load. They are characterized by postural function. What are Stretching Exercises? Stretching exercises are exercises that try to bring muscle to functional length. For the muscle to work properly, the right length of muscle fibers, the right strength and the right coordination - the nerve response - are important. Where does stretching work? Stretching affects the muscular 'tummy' and partly also the insertion. During stretching we try to dampen the tension reflex (protection against muscle damage), it is also possible by isometric activation of the muscle.
