Omori Town https://hajimeteno.iwamiginzan.jp/ The site is broadly divided into three areas: "Silver Mine Site and Mining Town," "Highway (Iwami Ginzan Highway)," and "Port and Port Town." The Iwami Ginzan World Heritage Site, officially called "Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine Site and its Cultural Landscape," was registered for its status as an "industrial site coexisting with the natural environment," demonstrating consideration for the environment without destroying nature. Omori Town, which developed as a mining town for the Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine, features rows of red-tiled houses along the valley through which the Ginzan River flows. The townscape retains its Edo-period layout, preserving the atmosphere of the past while modern life continues. During the Edo period, the Omori Magistrate's Office was located here, making it the political and economic center of the Iwami Ginzan territory, which was directly controlled by the shogunate.
