Growing Snake Fruit Plant from Seed - Spidery Sprouts! Snake Fruit Plant update:    • Grow Snake Fruit Plant Update - Don't Mess...   Snake fruit is in the Arecaceae or palm family, and is classified as Salacca zalacca. This may be the Salacca wallichiana variety, I'm not sure. It also might be a Thai Sumalee hybrid. The fruit of the Salacca wallichiana are called Luk rakam (ลูกระกำ) in Thailand. The skin's texture is like a snake's, rough in one direction but smooth in the other. Snake fruit tree grows in clusters and can reach up to 21'/7m height. It is a shrub palm with many spines on its leaves and stems. They are also known as Salak Fruit and need at least 5-7 years to bear fruits.
