Thomas Hardy, from the Victorian Period to Modernism
Here I walk through some of the artistic and social transitions that mark the change from the Victorian Period (1837-1901) to the Modernist Period (ca. 1890-1950) in the United Kingdom, and how these changes affect literature and art. Thomas Hardy is my main concern, and I spend some time on Oscar Wilde as well.
