Showing up 30 MINUTES LATE to the start (Tour de Palm Springs Fondo)

Bike Legal gave me an awesome opportunity to come down and ride the Tour De Palm Springs. The initial plan was to do a sub 4 hour, 100 mile ride, as the Tour de Palm Springs is pretty flat. We had a bunch of guys willing to rip their legs off to get it done. It was gonna happen...until...I was 30 freaking minutes late to the start. Tour de Palm Springs is a pretty basic fondo, mostly a big group ride really. No timed segments, no podium, and no major climbs. A sub 4 hour century was doable if we had 30+ dudes smashing, which there was, I just wasn't with them LOL. To be fair, the start time of the fondo was listed as 6:30 - 7. There wasn't an actual start time, so I assumed the 6:30 - 7:00 was more of a window for people to start early but the official start was at 7am. It wasn't, everyone started at 6:30. Also, the last 20-30 miles of the course was ALL STOP LIGHTS. And we hit every red light. So the start and stop of the group really killed the momentum and we kinda just mailed in the last bit. Its all good, the ride still ripped. But the whole story line I was going with kinda fizzled out towards the end.
