Meta-Analysis Prediction Intervals

In any meta-analysis we want to report the mean effect size and also how the effect size varies from study to study. The statistic that describes this variation in effects is called the prediction interval. In this lecture I explain how to compute the prediction interval. I also discuss common mistakes related to this. In particular, researchers sometimes assume that the confidence interval tells us how much the effect size varies or that the I-squared index tells us how much the effect size varies.
