Her album GRAY is one of our favorite records of the year so far — an eccentric indie folk gem that feels a lot more focused than the chaotic QWERTY EPs that came before it. “It’s my basic bitch era,” Saya Gray says with a grin, just before the first show of her tour. In this candid conversation, she talks about her journey from YouTube covers to playing bass for artists like Daniel Caesar, Willow Smith, and Liam Payne. She opens up about the darker side of the industry too: “I’ve been in terrible deals.
