Mobilità, inaugurato a Pisa il nuovo Ponte ciclopedonale che unisce San Piero a San Rossore.

Mayor Conti: "A strategic project that reconnects San Rossore Park with our coastline." With a ride from the center of Pisa to San Piero a Grado, along the first stretch of the Trammino cycle path, the new San Piero cycle and pedestrian bridge was inaugurated today. It connects San Rossore Park, in the Cascine Nuove area, to the opposite bank of the Arno River in San Piero a Grado, where, via the newly constructed section of the cycle path, it reconnects to the Trammino cycle path. The new bridge was built on the same site as the old Livorno aqueduct bridge, built in 1920, when the old Ponte dei Moccoli, which stood not far from the aqueduct footbridge, collapsed. The work, coordinated by Pisamo and begun in September 2024, cost a total of €4 million, funded 50% by the Tuscany Region and 50% by the Municipality of Pisa. The construction project lasted one year and nine months, with work carried out by the Cuneo-based company Preve Costruzioni. After the cyclists' caravan set off at 9:30 a.m. from Stampace Park, with a ride attended by numerous residents and sports associations, who joined the procession on bicycles, on foot, and even by river rowing, around 11 a.m. the procession arrived at the Ponte di San Piero, with the inaugural crossing, officially opening the new cycling infrastructure to the public. Once the San Rossore riverbank was reached, in the green area next to the ramp, official greetings were given by Michele Conti, Mayor of Pisa; David Barontini, Councilor for the Environment of the Tuscany Region; Lorenzo Bani, President of the San Rossore Park; Massimo Dringoli, Councilor for Mobility of the Municipality of Pisa; Alberto Giovannelli, President of Pisamo; and Alessandro Fiorindi, Director of Pisamo. A large number of people attended the finish line, including members of the City Council and Council, and representatives of city institutions. Light refreshments were offered, and a publication by Alessandro Moretti, a San Rossore enthusiast and historical researcher, entitled "San Rossore that unites..." (published with the contribution of Pisamo), which traces the history of "Bridges and footbridges over the Arno between Cascine Nuove and San Piero a Grado," was made available to all interested.
