For about 210 years since the Edo period, Okawachiyama in Imari City, Saga Prefecture has been producing the highest quality porcelain called Nabeshima, which was primarily intended to be presented to the shogunate, regardless of profitability. Okawachiyama is a pottery town that has kept its secret secrets, preventing advanced techniques from leaking through strict controls such as setting up a guard post at the entrance to prevent outsiders from entering. Today, 30 potteries continue to maintain traditional manufacturing methods. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the scenery is so beautiful that byobu rocks that resemble landscape paintings stand out in the deep valleys, making it a great place to take a stroll.
