Sega Dreamcast vs Neon 250: Arcade power in your home - Part 2 | Living in the Past
The 2nd episode in my series Dreamcast vs Neon 250 technical legacy. An early taste of going back to the heyday of 3D and PC gaming blooming into what we still know and enjoy today. The PowerVR2 took hold in the Dreamcast but it was only One player from the PC space vying for console relevancy. The Neon 250 is the direct compatriot of the Dreamcast in the PC 3D accelerator market. How good was it? How did it work? What made it so forward looking? Did it compete with the PC's best? And just how do the consoles and PC stack up to each other? This is Part 2 of a huge Retrospective and one that covers a great deal of the birth and gestation of modern 3D gaming in the console, arcade and PC space. In this episode we cover the unique and tailored benefits the Dreamcast offered, how forward thinking it really was. What could have happened if the Neon250 launched as planned with the Dreamcast in 1998 and we test more games to see if the Dreamcast can close the gap against the best of the PC market at the time.
