Gültekin Çetiner was born in Eskişehir in 1963. He completed his undergraduate education at Gazi University in 1985. He received his master's degree from Marmara University and, in 1991, from the University of Manchester. He completed his doctorate, which he started at Cardiff University (England), in 1996. He started working as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Space Sciences at Istanbul Technical University. He received his associate professorship in 1999. He lectured at King Abdulaziz University, the University of Sunderland, and the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He received his professorship in 2009. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He later became the rector of the same university. He was nominated to the European Rectors' Club by the European Business Council. During his tenure as rector, he also played a significant role in the mutual cooperation agreement between Yalova University and the International University of Sarajevo. Prof. Dr. Gültekin Çetiner currently continues his academic activities at Marmara University. His main areas of expertise are industrial/systems engineering, manufacturing engineering, information systems, engineering management, and management information systems.
