Gassed and Pooped

With the Xgames going down this weekend and making the pilgrimage to spectate, this video came to mind. A number of people looked at me funny when I suggested flying across the country to watch a dirt contest, but this was an FBM adjacent event, so I knew there was far more than just the contest to make the experience worthwhile. Richmond has an energetic and welcoming scene, and Baltimore and DC were bucket list places I wanted to ride. Unfortunately, a decent amount of DC and Baltimore footie got lost due to some camera glitch, but I’m trying to embrace more and more that not everything needs to be on the internet. Nonetheless, it was a great way to binge on BMX by riding new spots, hanging with friendly locals, and watching some world class riding inside and outside of the contest. An event like the Rumble in Richmond progresses BMX just as much as an event like xgames, because bringing people together, celebrating the sport, and spreading the fun is as important as podium finishes and ground breaking tricks. I hope to see y’all in Sac to celebrate a weekend of BMX! 8/2/2023 “Reed Zirjacks, my brother Tim, and I set out to spectate at the Rumble in Richmond 2023, and ride some of the finest spots the Mid-Atlantic had to offer. What came about was a 4 day BMX binge through Richmond, VA, Washington DC, and Baltimore MD. Tim and I also stopped in Chicago on the way back to California. With all of us in our mid-thirties, the amount of riding that went down was a bit of challenge, but the sights, spots and shredders we linked up with along the way made all the aches and pains well worth the experience. Big ups to Radshare and Steve Crandall”
