Sath Marau - Seven Killed (Pakistan, Karakorum, Batura Muztagh climbing movie)
Look for the same title on Vimeo . com to get a full experience. "Sath Marau" means "the seven killed" in the Shina language (sath -- seven, marau -- to kill). The name comes from a legend about a hunter, who, after tracking game for several days, killed seven chamois with one shot. Local residents gave the valley the name Sath Marau to recognise the event and commemorate the extraordinary accomplishment. The film is set in the Batura Muztagh region of the West Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan. The aim of the expedition to Batura Muztagh in 2011 was the exploration and first ascent of peaks in the area of the Sath Marau glacier. The film also broaches social and political questions as seen through the eyes of ordinary Pakistanis -- the valley's inhabitants. The expedition was organised by members of the Krakow Mountaineering Club: Webpage: hhttp://pakistan2011.kw.krakow.pl/ FB: / baturamuztagh2011
