Althea 5/16/80 Nassau Solo - Jerry Garcia (1st solo)

In this lesson, we're taking a look at Jerry's 1st guitar solo from the 5/16/80 "Althea" recorded at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. Senator Al Franken brought a lot of recent attention back to this show, and more specifically this song when he declared it the best version ever in the "Long Strange Trip" documentary. Although everyone may have their opinion which version is actually the best, I will say this one is a good one to study. This first solo is very concise, well-phrased, and gives you a peak into how Jerry approached playing over these chord changes.
