The Marbles World Championships

The World Championships is the biggest date in the marble game’s calendar and normally in attendance are teams from Germany, the odd American player, and a bunch of British teams, several in fancy dress. The marbles ring is a concrete circle, six feet in diameter and covered in sand. Players are each armed with a “tolley” or “shooter” marble – This is their playing marble and is slightly bigger than the 49 other marbles in the game. A point is scored for each marble their “shooter” knocks out of the ring. The first team to reach 25 points wins.
