Newcastle
Country Dancers of Westchester danced Newcastle without prompting at their 2011 Celebration of Spring Ball. The dance, reconstructed by Cecil Sharp from Playford's Dancing Master, has the classic Playford format of leading, siding, and arming, each followed by a unique chorus. Thanks to the dancers for their lovely dancing, and kudos to Leah Barkan, piano; John Austin, violin and viola; Sue Polansky, clarinet; and Mark Eisenberg, recorders, for their enticing rendition of the tune.
