A farmer has a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage. He needs to cross a river with all of them using a small boat. The boat can only hold the farmer and one other item (either the wolf, the goat, or the cabbage). The catch is: ​If left alone together, the wolf will eat the goat. ​If left alone together, the goat will eat the cabbage. ​How can the farmer successfully transport all three across the river without anything getting eaten?
