Originally from Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. After graduating from Heian High School (now Ryukoku University Heian High School) and Meiji University, he joined the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2007. In 2014, he transferred to the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. In 2017, he decided to retire from active play due to the effects of his chronic hypothyroidism.
