Rock dominated early in the decade, with icons like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones reaching new creative heights while The Beatles were going their separate ways. Simultaneously, singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor brought introspective lyrics to the forefront.
