MP2006-1 KCMO-TV Footage of Harry S. Truman and Lyndon Johnson Meetings and Other Events
This mostly silent footage was recorded by local Kansas City, Missouri television news station KCMO-TV. It consists of segments from 1966-1972 featuring former president Harry S. Truman, former president Dwight D. Eisenhower, president Lyndon Baines Johnson, and General Omar Bradley, among others. It also includes some press coverage of Mr. Truman's final hospitalization. Specifically the segments show: President Johnson's limousine arriving at the Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, Missouri, probably on January 20, 1966, when he gave Mr. and Mrs. Truman Medicare card numbers 1 and 2. Former presidents Eisenhower and Truman attending a United Nations organization "We Believe" luncheon in Kansas City, June 6, 1966. Harry Truman and Bess Truman greeting their daughter, Margaret Truman Daniel, and her children, as they arrive by plane in Kansas City on December 3, 1967. President Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson arriving in Kansas City by plane in Kansas City on May 3, 1968, for a visit to the Truman home in Independence. Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey visits the Truman home in Independence, Missouri on May 25, 1968. General Omar Bradley and his wife, Esther "Kitty" Buhler Bradley, visit the Truman home on November 4, 1969. These clips are press events related to Mr. Truman's final hospitalization before his death starting December 6, 1972. Arrival of Margaret Truman Daniel to the hospital to visit her father.
