Tahm Kench Story - https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/... The waterways of Valoran are ancient, but the demon Tahm Kench is even older. From the muddy gambling tents along the Snake River to the salt-encrusted dice halls of Bilgewater to the gilded betting tables of Piltover and Zaun, all those who have gazed longingly at someone else's possessions know the undying hunger that comes from meeting the River King. The first stories about this creature were told by a nomadic people who sailed along the Snake River. They warned of a giant fish with a giant maw that lured disaffected souls with the promise of riches. One such story he told about a certain young man who was known for his honesty. Although he was born a rower, he yearned for a life beyond the squalid shores he knew so well, and the River King promised him an unforgettable experience—if only he would lie a little once. It seemed harmless enough, and so the oarsman in a conversation with his own brother he colored the truth a little. That night the demon appeared and revealed a confluence in the river that the oarsman had never noticed before. He sailed down an unknown arm of the river to a camp of strangers who offered him food and drink and fresh company. When dawn was approaching and the oarsman was full and ready to return to his people, the demon reappeared, promising an even better experience for another lie. The man, in whom it aroused interest, acceded to his agreement and told falsehoods to his hosts. The river parted again and he sailed down it into an even more sumptuous evening. So it went on night after night until the once honest oarsman found cheating as easy as breathing. When the river finally flowed into the sea, he found himself alone and lost—there was no one to lie to. After making so many dark decisions, all of them his own, the oarsman had no way home. The semi-saline rivers from the mainland carried tales of the River King to the Isles of Blue Flame, where the creature gained a name as its legend grew - Tahm Kench. In Bilgewater, wealth is like a swing and the ebb can wash away such wealth as the tide will bring. In some pubs there is talk of old Tahm, a water demon with an endless love of gambling, until the drunken monster became the symbol of many gambling dens and houses of vice in the city. Once the Sungates opened up easy trade from Bilgewater to Piltover, tales of Tahm Kench began to be heard more frequently in the City of Progress and its lower reaches, Zaun. The children there know Tahm as "Two-coat", a fish so monstrous that it wears two fancy vests sewn together. With a great hum and a smile wider than Pilt himself, he is the envy of young gamblers. It is said that one day on Progress Day he came to a struggling Piltover inventor and offered her an idea that was sure to attract the attention of a wealthy clan. He only asked for a single lock of her hair in return. An ambitious woman approached the business and indeed: her work earned her a favorable contract. But one invention was not enough. The two-coat man stopped again and this time asked her for all her beautiful locks. The inventor didn't want to disappoint her new patron, so she agreed - and the Doublecoat ate them on the spot. Still, the woman couldn't find that one amazing invention that would make her famous. The demon came again and offered her a deal that she would pay for with the tip of one finger. The next week it was an ear. A year later, there wasn't much left of the woman to give up. Finally, she called Two-Coat herself and asked him to end it all. He laughed with his jaws wide open and told her that he would protect her from herself. After which he immediately swallowed it whole. King of the River. A large rocking chair. Old scumbag. Double-breasted. The demon Tahm Kench has many names, but all who utter them have discovered one truth: no matter how seductive his words may be, everyone is lost in his maw. 0:00 - Tahm Kench Story 4:06 - Karbaník's complaint 7:49 - King of the River
