Panel discussion: Psychedelics and integration – Marc Aixalà & Riikka Ajantaival (Finnish subtitles)

Integration is a common theme when discussing the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. During psychedelic sessions, all kinds of emotions, perspectives, and experiences tend to emerge. The goal of integration is to help process such material in a way that benefits our everyday life and life story. In spring 2019, we organized a lecture event focusing on the topic of integration at the University of Helsinki. Psychologist and psychotherapist Marc Aixalà from Barcelona and psychologist Riikka Ajantaival spoke at the event. Aixalà presented an overview into the theme of integration while Ajantaival described the way integration is approached in a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy research context. In this panel discussion, Aixalà and Ajantaival answer audience questions on integration practices. The discussion is moderated by psychologist Samuli Kangaslampi. Is integration a rational process? Are some psychedelic experiences impossible to integrate? What does integration mean in practice? How long does the therapeutic window opened by psychedelics remain open?
