[JAPAN] Ai Yoshikawa Tribute - Award-winning Actress (part 2)

This video updates you about Ai Yoshikawa, an Award-winning Actress. Ai entered the entertainment industry at the ripe age of three and made her debut at age five in a commercial for Coca-Cola's "Sokenbicha." As a child actor, Ai appeared in numerous productions. In 2016, citing a desire to focus on her studies, Ai suspended her entertainment activities and announced her retirement. Following her temporary retirement, Ai devoted herself to her education—declaring, "I am focusing on my studies and have absolutely no lingering attachment to work in the entertainment industry"—and lived the daily life of an ordinary high school student, even gaining experience as a part-time employee at a bakery due to her love for bread. However, after being scouted by a staff member from Ken-On, Ai realized she did, in fact, harbor a lingering desire to perform and decided to return to acting. The Ken-On staff member who scouted Ai reportedly did so without realizing she was the former child actor Riko Yoshida. In 2017, Ai changed her stage name from Riko Yoshida—her birth name—to Ai Yoshikawa and made a fresh start with her re-debut as an actress affiliated with Ken-On. Her first project following her return was the Sunday drama "Aishitetatte, Himitsu wa Aru." (Even If I Love You, There Are Secrets), which aired on Nippon TV in July of the same year. Ai garnered significant attention for her roles as the protagonist's romantic rival in the Tuesday dramas "Hajimete Koi o Shita Hi ni Yomu Hanashi" (A Story to Read on the Day You First Fall in Love), which aired in 2019, and "Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo" (Love Lasts Forever), which aired in 2020 (both on TBS Television). In 2021, Ai made her first foray into voice acting by dubbing the lead character, Raya, in the Japanese release of the Disney animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon." In April of the same year, Ai landed her first starring role in a serial drama with "Colorfurable: Genderless Danshi ni Aisarete Imasu." (Colorfurable: Loved by a Genderless Boy), which aired as part of the "Thursday Drama F" block on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV. In July of that same year, Ai played the heroine, Uka Ishimori, in the film "Honey Lemon Soda" (distributed by Shochiku), a performance for which she received the Newcomer of the Year award at the 45th Japan Academy Film Prize ceremony. Ai continues to do well as an actress, winning awards. Best of luck to her!!
