We Rode 750 km Just for a Beer...

How far would you ride for a beer with your mates? For us, the answer was simple: 750 kilometres. With only one weekend available before work on Monday, we loaded the bikes and headed south from Pretoria on a 1,500 km round trip to Orania, where Theo and Danny were waiting after their December adventure through Baviaanskloof. The route would take us through Gauteng, the Free State and into the Northern Cape, with everything from muddy gravel roads and slippery conditions to quiet backroads, small farming towns and the wide-open landscapes that make South African adventure riding so special. Sometimes the destination is just an excuse. This trip was really about catching up with good friends, sharing stories over a cold beer, and reminding ourselves why we ride.
