Members of the Vumba tribe want recognition as an official tribe in Kenya
The Wavumba living at the Coast are calling on the government to recognize them as one of the 42 official Kenyan tribes. Some of the community leaders said they should not be categorized as the Swahili/Shirazi as is the case currently when registering for identity cards, since they have their own language, tradition and history.
