Affaire Martinez Zogo, Maître Claude Assira répond a Bruno Bidjang

The Martinez Zogo case—session of June 22 and 23 at the Yaoundé Military Court. The second cybercrime expert, Dr. Jean-Pierre Olumou, testified. His conclusions: no compromising digital evidence was found on the phones of Amougou Belinga and Bruno Bidjang. Justin Danou's phones had reportedly been modified. And Martinez Zogo appears to have been an informant for several figures in the regime—including the Secretary General of the Presidency. But the civil party disagrees. Attorney Félicité Esther Ziefman and her colleagues point to flawed methodology, biased conclusions, and the fact that nine of Amougou Belinga's eleven phones were not examined. Attorney Claude Assira, representing the State, goes further: the second expert's report, in his view, is flawed, lacks a documented methodology, and should simply not be accepted. Meanwhile, the defense expresses satisfaction. And the court rejected the plaintiff's request for further expert analysis, deeming it inappropriate at this stage. What can we take away from this session? That the Martinez Zogo case continues to expose the deep fractures in a judicial system under pressure—and that the truth, if it is to emerge, will have to overcome every obstacle, one by one.
