[OST] Don't blame the Devil

Im Juli 1993 bestieg ich ein Flugzeug, flog 14 Stunden nach LA, wo ich im Anschluss weitere 8 Stunden lang in einem Bus saß. Bei kuscheligen 38 Grad, im Schatten. Die Kassette in meinem Walkman hatte schon auf dem Hinflug den Geist aufgegeben, und so hörte ich die ganze Fahrt über „4 Non Blondes“, „Madonna“ und „Ace of Base“, statt mich auf den Auftritt vorzubereiten, für den ich diese ganze Tortour auf mich genommen hatte. Mein Ziel war Albuquerque, New Mexico – genauer gesagt das Tingley Coliseum. Wo meine Lieblingsband auftreten sollte: @Aerosmith. Meine Eintrittskarte hatte ich – mangels PayPal, oder irgendeiner Möglichkeit, die Karte von Deutschland aus zu buchen – per Luftpost reserviert. Als ich ankam, durfte ich weitere zwei Stunden an der Abendkasse anstehen, um dann zu erfahren, dass meine Reservierung wohl nicht geklappt hatte. Glücklicherweise gab es noch einen Stehplatz, gleich neben den Toiletten, hinter einer Säule. Dafür doppelt so teuer. Ich weiß nicht mehr, wie das Konzert war. Aber die Anfahrt ist mir im Gedächtnis geblieben. Was die Story mit diesem Song zu tun hat? Nix. Ich musste nur daran denken, weil wir – Mika Kantz und meine Wenigkeit – uns momentan storytechnisch in New Mexico aufhalten, , um dort das „Shiprock Lodge Motel“ rechtzeitig zu eröffnen. Genauso lang, wie meine Geschichte, ist „Don’t blame the Devil“. Den Song habe ich für unseren „Soundtrack“ als Opener geschrieben und Echo Vega gebeten, ihn stilvoll einzuspielen. Womit ich nicht gerechnet habe, war, dass er seine ganze Gang zusammenholen würde, um eine 25-minütige Session einzuspielen. Ich habe das Stück leicht gekürzt.
