Assault of the Killer Bimbos casting call 1988

In 1988, legendary publicist Dale Olsen taught me a master class in low-budget marketing. For my cult film "Assault of the Killer Bimbos," Dale created an old-fashioned Hollywood casting call at the famous Roosevelt Hotel. Without the big budgets of studio films, our little kitschy picture generated a lot of attention and buzz. Every news story picked it up. And although their news reporters thought it below them to cover the event, I watched as all those men enjoyed being surrounded by 200 beautiful ladies. I have no clue who had control of my video camera. In fact, most of the behind-the-scenes video consisted of close-ups of breasts. I chose to edit together the smiles and excitement of these Hollywood hopefuls as they auditioned. I met with all 200 actresses. Although we had in fact already cast Liz Kaitan, Tammy Souza, and Christina Whitaker before the audition, I felt this was a great opportunity for them to get in front of Empire Pictures' casting team for future projects. Even my sister, Susan, was in attendance. She was the fabulous costume designer who did the most amazing job. I hope you enjoy watching the behind-the-scenes casting call of Bimbos.
