UPDATE on My AMG A45 S! | FIRST DRIVE

I've got some news about my order for the new AMG A45 S! Visiting the home of AMG in Affalterbach for my first opportunity to test drive the new pocket rocket, it's an opportunity to experience what it's all about and think more about the future Shmeemobile. The new generation of A45 from AMG comes as both an S and non-S model, for former offered 421hp and 500nm with a 2.0l turbo 4-cyl engine that's now built and assembled on site by AMG in Affalterbach. In addition it's loaded with technology and trickery including a Drift Mode for misbehaviour, Race Start launch control that performs simply remarkably even in the wet weather, plus an 8-spd dual clutch gearbox, and huge amounts of internal tech. Picking the car up from AMG let's have a quick walkaround of this subtle spec without the aero package and with a brown leather interior, before then hitting the roads to run through the different modes. With the torrential rain quickly arriving, the 4MATIC+ system helps out but also demonstrates with a launch control how even a soaked surface won't hinder the performance levels. So, what do I think? With previous mixed reports, I'm firmly in the camp that this is a very fun car to drive, and the overall package is truly stunning for the money. As to what's happening in my garage, there's some discussion to be had around this as my recent travels (and planned future travels) might require a slimming of the number of cars on order. With an A45 S arriving somewhere in early 2020, it wouldn't see huge amounts of usage and might not be the most logical decision, but the heart says it's a pretty epic little thing to drive!
