Each year, around 8,000 candidates from all over the world come to the Foreign Legion selection center in Aubagne, in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Whatever their background, origin or religion, these candidates, aged 17 to 40, have the opportunity to start a new life thanks to the Legion. But one in ten will be retained. From their selection to the famous march of the white kepi, a formidable 50 kilometer endurance test, recruits have been followed. For four months, the recruits will learn to speak French, to fight and to surpass themselves. Some will take swimming lessons.
