Well, if that's your question, come with me because today I'm going to talk about how it works for these professionals to work in the area of ​​holistic, integrative, alternative, and complementary therapies. The first thing you need to know is that the profession of Holistic, Integrative, Complementary, and Alternative Therapy is self-regulated. This means that there is no law, decree, or regulation specifying what a professional needs to do to start and practice. What is required is that we have courses (in the area) that enable us to practice and work as therapists. Therefore, if the profession of Holistic, Integrative, Complementary, and Alternative Therapy is not regulated, then there is no regulatory body for our work. Thus, it is not mandatory to have a therapist's license or to be affiliated with a specific organization. You only affiliate if you want to or if you realize it is important for your clients. There is even a bill being voted on for the regulation of Holistic Therapy, but it has been stalled since March 2020. Therefore, we have no way of knowing if it will be approved or not, nor what the requirements will be. Now, if you want to have a license or affiliate with an organization, I know the Therapists' Union (SINTE), which I am already affiliated with. There's also the Association of Holistic Therapists (ABRATH). Just contact them for more information. You can't be reported or harmed for not having a professional license. So if someone asks you something, just explain that our profession is self-regulated. It's important to know that in the case of self-regulated professions, what matters is the law of the market, that is, customer satisfaction. As I understood that what brought me clients wasn't credentials but the work I did, I learned to improve more and more and create a service dynamic that delighted clients. And I suppose that was because of the top-notch work I was doing, since many of my clients came through referrals. That's why I say that three things are essential in the journey of a therapist who wants to have clients and succeed professionally: commitment, skill, and competence. Every committed professional develops skills as they study, dedicate themselves, and practice. With that, they become increasingly competent in what they do. And believe me! That's what will make the difference in the end.
