Gunhī Punhī is very old Newari tune that played mostly in Newar Bãsuri (flute). The song writer, lyrics and composer are anonymous of Gunhī Punhī. This Gunhī Punhī song is more than 200 years old tune popularly played in Newari Bãsuri (flute) during Gunhī Punhī festival in Newar community in the month of Bhadra in Nepali calendar. The Newar oil pressures, Sayami (Manandhar) celebrate a Gũlā parva, a Buddhist month long musical ritual. Let’s put it in the gvākhã (a niche in the wall of a room, for keeping small objects). If it’s too long for the gvākhã, let’s throw it in the river.” (Music – 4) Fākãdali: Fākãdali, exclusively is a traditional Newar dance song with its unique melody that vibrates in the ears of every Newars and echoes in the city Bhaktapur during seven days of Sapāru, starts after Gunhī Punhī.
