Om Bas 'Palak' Rp 100 Juta, Pejabat Takut Karena Pengaruh Bupati Gowa

The Gowa Regency Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Special Committee (Pansus) on the Right of Inquiry (Right of Inquiry) held a follow-up meeting to investigate allegations of misconduct and ethical violations of the Gowa Regent's oath of office, which are believed to have impacted the administration of regional government. During the meeting, the Pansus requested information from the Head of the Regional Revenue Agency, the former Head of the General Affairs Division, the former Head of the Protocol Division, and the Assistant for General Administration of the Gowa Regency Secretariat. The information gathered concerned allegations of influence from parties outside the government structure on policy-making and official activities. The Pansus emphasized that all information presented at the meeting remains allegations and does not constitute a legally binding decision. One of the items highlighted was the Head of the Regional Revenue Agency's admission of Rp 100 million in cash, purportedly intended as assistance for an arts organization inauguration event allegedly involving Basri Kajang (BK), also known as Om Bas, and the Gowa Regent. In his statement, the Head of the Agency admitted that he was initially approached by someone named Becam and BK at his office. At that time, he said, the BK was reported to need funds for the inauguration of a singing organization, for which the Gowa Regent was said to be the activity chair for Gowa Regency. He admitted to expressing his willingness to help, although the funds had not been immediately disbursed. Three days later, he was contacted again by Becam to meet at a cafe on Jalan Pattimura. During the meeting, Becam again asked about the funds requested by BK. The Agency Head admitted he did not have the money with him because it was quite substantial. However, because he was told it had to be handed over that evening, he asked his nephew to collect Rp 100 million from his house. According to him, the money was then handed over to Becam in a Toyota Innova, which he claimed belonged to BK. When asked by members of the Special Committee why he was willing to give money to BK, which was not part of the government structure, the Agency Head explained that when BK and Becam came to his office, he was told that their arrival was with the knowledge of the Gowa Regent. He also admitted that he was accustomed to being loyal to his leadership, so he chose to express his willingness first before considering the source of the funds. Fortunately, he said, his wife's funds were available, allowing the request to be fulfilled. In response to this explanation, a member of the Gowa Regency DPRD concluded that the Head of the Agency's confidence in handing over the money was not solely due to the BK's request, but rather due to information that the request was known to or approved by the Gowa Regent. As of the meeting, all information presented was still in the form of testimony before the Gowa Regency DPRD's Inquiry Rights Special Committee. The Special Committee will continue to examine all the facts and information obtained before drawing conclusions. The allegations raised cannot be used as a basis for declaring a violation of the law until a process and decision are made by the authorities.
