However, it can be suspended after 15 years (which happens relatively frequently in practice). If the verdict also establishes "particular gravity of guilt," suspension after 15 years is, in principle, excluded. Three days before Christmas 2022, shots ring out at midday in Albstadt-Ebingen: A 23-year-old pizza baker is executed in broad daylight. The shock quickly turns to disbelief – upon his arrest, the perpetrator, a 52-year-old Italian man, confesses to another crime: The dismembered and buried body of a 20-year-old woman, who had been missing for days, is found in his garden. It is his own niece. The investigation leads into an abyss of vindictiveness and cold-blooded violence – and raises questions: What drove the man to this explosion of violence? Are these the actions of a ruthless psychopath? And what was the true nature of the relationship between the perpetrator and his niece, which witnesses describe as "jealous"?
