The song is sung in Bemba and was released in 1986. Steve Kalenga was a Zambian musician who got his start in music after crossing the border into Zaire in the 1970's. In Zaire (now Congo) he met a Belgian music promotor who convinced him to move to Europe to pursue music there. After a stint in Spain, he moved to Belgium. There, he helped form an Afrobeats band known as Black Blood. The band produced numerous records through the late 70's for the European music scene, some of which made their way back to Zambia. Later, he returned to Zambia and formed a band known as The Tropicals. The Tropicals featured Kalenga on keyboards and played a mix of kalindula and rumba music. Moving into the late 1980's, Kalenga had a number of solo singles produced by Teal on the Zambezi and Kalimba labels. I've seen conflicting information that suggests he was still alive in the early 2000's. 00:00 Bamayo Fyala - Part 1 04:33 Bamayo Fyala - Part 2 Kalimba (Teal Records) ZUKA 179 1986 DISCLAIMER: All music uploaded to this channel is shared with the intention of preserving rare out of print recordings and making them available to audiences who might otherwise never have an opportunity to experience the artists and their performances.
