WCW Rick Rude 6th Theme Song - "Simply Ravishing (Intro Edit)" (With 2nd Tron) (RIP)
"What I'd like to have right now, is for all of you fat, out of shape, Louisiana losers, stand-up, and pay some respect for the UNDISPUTED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD! Hit the music!" - Rick Rude, Halloween Havoc 1993 (Yeah, it was supposed to come out yesterday, but I got a visit from some friends of mine and we did barbecue, watched Formula 1, Porsche Cup and played videogames, so basically I spent the whole day away from my phone, and wasn't even able to tell you guys I would postpone it. Well, it's up now, so let's go!) Another Slam Jam classic, and yes, it's remake of a Tron I made in February 2016, when I was just getting my feet wet at doing these kinds of videos. So, here's another story of a theme song that's so iconic, but was used for such a short period of time. The year is 1993 and Rick Rude had to start it going immediately after the title he was forced to relinquish the year prioe due to injury, the WCW United States Championship and by doing so, he and then current champion Dustin Rhodes faced off at the April 20, 1993 episode of WCW Worldwide, in a match that initially ended with Rude being awarded the victory and the belt, but it was later revealed that it actually ended in a double pinfall as both men had only one shoulder pinned to the mat, while the other was raised. They had a rematch at Beach Blast competing in an Iron Man Match that ended without a winner as they drew 1-1. Then, they had a Best Of Three Series matches that spanned through late August, which finally saw Dustin come out on top and become the United States Champion. After that, Rude started chasing after Ric Flair and his WCW Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship (later known as the International Heavyweight Championship) after Flair and his maid Fifi disrespected him at a Flair For The Gold episode. After that, Rude won the title from Flair at Fall Brawl and went on to defend all the way against wrestlers like Flair again, The Boss, Road Warrior Hawk, Johnny B. Badd and Marcus Bagwell. On March 16, 1994, Rude lost the title to Hiroshi Hase on the tenth day of New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Hyper Battle 1994 tour, before regaining it 8 days later at the sixteenth day of the same tour. Rude then embarked in a double feud with Sting and Big Van Vader after Vader caused Rude to lose the title to Sting at Spring Stampede 1994, which led Rude to attack Vader. But before his matters with Vader could culminate into their match at Slamboree 1994, Rude would suffer a career ending injury while battling Sting at the New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Dontaku in Fukuoka Dome show on May 1, where Sting hit Rude with a plancha to the outside, where Rude would hit his spine into the tip of the ring step. Although in pain, Rude continued the match and won it thus regaining the belt, turning his match with Vader at Slamboree into a title match, but as the writing was on the wall, Rude was forced to retire and vacate the belt he hardly fought to evaluate, and the Slamboree match ended up being Sting and Vader. A tragic end to such a tremendous run! He used this for the first time during the December 9th, 1992 (broadcasted December 26) episode of WCW Worldwide! Simply ravishing indeed!
