JAKARTA, KOMPASTV - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) will hold the 8th Indonesian Muslim Congress (KUII) on July 24–26, 2026. This five-yearly forum will bring together various Islamic community organizations to discuss strategic national issues, ranging from democracy, food security, the economy, energy, and global geopolitics. MUI Secretary General Amirsyah Tambunan said the congress will form seven commissions to discuss various strategic issues, including religion and civilization, democracy, and international geopolitical dynamics. "We need to formulate strategic steps. The MUI has formulated seven areas or commissions that will discuss various national issues," Amirsyah said on Sapa Indonesia Pagi, Friday (July 24, 2026). Amirsyah emphasized that the MUI will support government policies that are in line with the constitution, good governance, and free from corruption. "The government alone cannot do it.
