MOTORHOME TOUR - POMPEII - SORRENTO: Best place to Park Up!

European Motorhome Tour days 27-29 takes us to Vico Equense where we explore Pompeii and Sorento. We stay at Camping S.Antonio which is ideally situated on the train line between Pompeii and Sorento. The steps from the campsite to the town are EXTREME but I think there is a bus service. The drive down to the campsite is ok, we made hard work of it by missing the turn in off the main road, don’t be intimated by the entrance to the campsite, it is fine, some of the campsite pitches are tight between the trees but the very friendly owner will come and help you. We were also able to book our boat trip along the Almafi Coast from reception. Definitely eat in the Campsite restaurant, its great food at a reasonable price. On the second day we take the train to Sorrento, where we muse around the shops (not really our thing) and then hike off to Bagni Regina Giovanna, a beautiful oasis for swimming by the Roman Villa ruins. Pompeii Tips: 1. When you buy your train ticket (not expensive) make sure you validate it in the machine on the station before travelling, if you don’t then you are effectively travelling without a ticket and will get fined. 2. Definitely use a guide, it makes a huge difference to your time there, it was fine in a big group because we had ear pieces, no need to pay for a private guide. 3. Take food and drink with you, there are water fountains which are apparently ok to drink from but we didn’t fancy it. 4. It can get really hot and there is no shade so choose the time of day you visit 5. Be aware some trains on this line are old and very busy 6. Allow plenty of time to explore on the day, there’s a lot to see 7. You can’t re-enter Pompeii once your in 8.
