I show them that being well-organized is the key to making homework easier and even enjoyable. I start by explaining the importance of choosing the right time to work. Ideally, it's after a short break and a snack, when the brain has had time to recharge after the school day. I also show them that establishing a regular routine helps reduce stress and work more efficiently. I then emphasize the importance of the work environment. Students should settle into a quiet place, free from distractions like the television or other noise, with all their materials within easy reach so they don't waste time. I also give them an important tip for getting started more easily. I advise them to begin with the exercises they find easy, like a warm-up, before moving on to more difficult ones. I also remind them to take short 5-minute breaks every 20 to 30 minutes to maintain their concentration. I also address a crucial point: not getting stuck alone when faced with a difficulty. Asking for help from an adult, a sibling, or a teacher isn't cheating; it's learning. I also tell them that mistakes are part of learning and that they shouldn't be afraid of them. Finally, I conclude with the proofreading stage. Before putting away their notebooks, students should check that they have answered all the questions correctly, that their handwriting is legible, and that they haven't forgotten anything. The video ends with a short interactive quiz to check that the students have retained the advice. Download the mind map: https://maitrelucas.fr/carte-mentale/... My advice: You play a vital role in establishing good study habits, and the good news is that a few simple adjustments to your daily routine can really make a difference. One of the first things to do is help your child find their own pace. Every child is different, and some will be more productive right after a snack, while others will need a little more time to unwind. The idea is to observe together what time works best and stick to it to create a stable routine. Once this time slot is established, your child will naturally know it's time to get started, and there will be less negotiation. For the workspace, you can set up a small, dedicated corner with them, even a modest one, where they feel comfortable and where everything is within easy reach. Preparing this space together gives them a sense of responsibility, and they will be more inclined to use it. During homework time, try as much as possible to remain available without constantly looking over their shoulder. Your child needs to feel that you are there if they have a question, but also that they are trusted to try things on their own. If you see that your child is stuck on an exercise, instead of giving them the answer directly, you can help them rephrase the problem or ask questions that guide them toward the solution. This is how they truly progress. When faced with mistakes, your reaction matters enormously. If your child feels that making mistakes isn't a big deal and is even normal, they will be more daring and gain confidence. A simple "It's okay, let's look together at why it didn't work" can completely change their relationship with homework. Learning Objectives: Understand the importance of choosing the right time and place to do homework. Adopt an effective study method by starting with easy exercises and taking regular breaks. Develop the habit of asking for help when struggling and proofreading their work before finishing it.
