The Funeral Directors of Flight 232
On July 19, 1989, the crash of United Flight 232 in Sioux City resulted in 112 passengers losing their lives and marked a tragic day in Iowa’s history. Today, on the 35th anniversary, we honor the memory of those lost and acknowledge the bravery of those who responded, including flight crew and emergency responders who played critical roles in saving lives. We also want to recognize the dedicated service exemplified by funeral directors during that time. Many of them mobilized in Sioux City by stepping up with unwavering resolve, offering dignity and compassion to the victims of this tragedy, and working tirelessly during the crisis. This video is an excerpt of a full-length documentary that will be directed and produced by Funeral Directors Life (FDL), in partnership with the Iowa Funeral Directors Association (IFDA). In it, we aim to pay tribute to the work funeral directors do every day: answering the call in times of crisis. Please join us in remembrance of this day.
