In this video, I will show you how to make an IR soldering iron at home from improvised means. When repairing modern equipment, it is very difficult to do without an IR soldering iron. But not every radio amateur can afford to buy an IR soldering station. Therefore, you have to look for other ways, one of which is to make such a soldering iron yourself. I used a PVC pipe with a diameter of 20 mm as a base or handle for the soldering iron. I attached two screws to the ends of the tube, to which I screwed the wires with the supply voltage. And then I attached various attachments to these screws, which acted as a heating element, that is, they emitted a light beam in the infrared range. The first attachment is a car halogen lamp. Such an IR soldering iron works very well and stably. One drawback is that it blinds the eyes a lot. The second attachment is a car cigarette lighter. This version of the IR soldering iron turned out to be the most effective and productive. And the third attachment is a section of a heating coil. In this case, the soldering iron works, but is slightly inferior to the previous two.
