New Research on the Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake | Dr. Diego Melgar @ PSU
Dr. Diego Melgar is a seismologist that does research on large earthquakes. He wants to understand the hazards they produce which affect society, namely, strong shaking and tsunamis. He is also interested in early warning systems to issue alerts in advance of these hazards. To pursue these interests he observes and measures earthquakes, and creates models. Title: Geophysical modeling meets paleoseismology: can we know the details of past Cascadia earthquakes #pacificnorthwest #science #geology #seismic #psu #seminar #tectonics #earthquake #earthscience #portlandstate #hazard #portland #oregon #cascadia
