Newport News Twilight Crit 2025 Cat 2/3 TONN: How to Lose a Critical #3 2025

Video starts at the second start of this race. The first start had a corner 1 crash that had to be cleared, so the officials just reset the whole thing! First real race since returning from the mountains. Arrived pretty close to start and didn't warm up appropriately, but that had no effect on the race. I started in the right spot, didn't fight for position early... despite knowing way better than to let that happen. Spent most of the race middle or so in the pack and had a terrible time making up spots. Lots of chopping from a lot of racers including me. Overall grade for my racing out there would be a C- or so. Fitness was fine and overall power output was moderate at NP of 320w for the race. Crash on the 8 to go lap ended the day for me as officials ended free laps about 5 seconds before I made it back to the pits. At least 10 riders missed the finish due to this perfectly timed pile up. It was always coming due to line deviations and a lot of corners going 6 or 7 wide as people tried to move up. Minor bumps and no teeth missing after this crash, so calling it a win!
