My 1st off-roading in Texas. Epic Palo Duro Canyon Overlanding at Merus Park. Fun Easy Jeep Trails

My biggest adventure EVER!!! Cut into 3 videos for easier viewing Part 1 will cover the 1st 2 days at Merus Adventure Park just outside of Amarillo Texas This is my 1st trip west of the Mississippi. I drove my Jeep JL Wrangler 1200 miles from Georgia to the Palo Duro Canyon, just outside of Amarillo Texas, to Merus Adventure Park located in Claude. I am new to west coast wheeling, coming from Georgia, Merus is a great place to learn. It’s a well designed Offroad park, allowing you to ride easy trails all the way across the canyon to learn the terrain. Then when you’re ready take the off shooting trails that increase in difficulty. All trails take you back to Merus 101, allowing you to reset and evaluate how difficult you want to increase the adventure. The Palo Duro Canyon is the 2nd largest canyon in the USA. It is often called the Grand Canyon of Texas. The canyon reaches depths of nearly 1000 feet with sharp cliffs and ledges. The top of the canyon is about 3500 feet above sea level, making this high plains desert. Being located in the Texas Panhandle, remote North west Texas, there is very little light or air pollution. This provides slime of the best scenery I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Sunsets and Sunrises like I’ve never seen, Stargazing from horizon to horizon, great views of the Milky Way, wildlife all around, a truly amazing experience. This is an amazing adventure that you can do as well, you only need a basic 4 wheel drive vehicle to enjoy Merus 101 inside the canyon. Up on the rim, there are several access points that wont require 4x4, just some ground clearance. For day 1 and 2, I explore easy canyon trails and slowly increase in difficulty as i learn the Texas Terrain and how my Jeep responds to it. ‪@merusadventure‬ 00:00 intro 00:50 Big Texas Recovery 02:20 Arrival, Breathtaking Canyon views 04:00 Camp site 181 05:30 Palo Duro Canyon Sunsets 08:55 Good Morning Day 2 10:17 Landrys Landing Drop into the Canyon 12:35 Merus 101 17:01 Back 40 24:08 Lonesome Dove 33:35 Salt Fork 36:00 Salt Fork / Northbound 39:30 Camp site 123 43:07 Camp Communion 47:07 Dinner, Sunset, Stargazing
