Houston Texans Minicamp: What Soothed My Soul… and What Still Terrifies Me

The Houston Texans have wrapped up minicamp, and for the first time all offseason, I'm trying to balance two competing feelings: On one hand, there are a lot of things that genuinely soothe my soul. C.J. Stroud looks comfortable in the offense. The pre-snap operation appears cleaner. There has been virtually no contract drama. The offensive line has added new faces and, more importantly, a more aggressive mentality. Young players are flashing. Position battles are creating competition. On the other hand... I'm not completely comfortable yet. The offense still has to prove it can consistently produce against NFL defenses. The offensive line still exists mostly on paper. Several key veterans have significant injury histories. The loss of E.J. Speed hurts more than people want to admit. And defensive depth always looks great until the injury report starts filling up.
