Make sure the brass springs are centered behind the front playing surface. If a spring is bent sideways, gently straighten it by hand. Adjust Spring Pressure, The springs should lightly touch the front panel. Too much pressure: Excessive buzzing and reduced bass tone. Too little pressure: Weak snare sound or no buzz. Loosen the mounting screws slightly and reposition the springs until they make light, even contact. 3. Tighten Loose Hardware Check all screws holding the spring assembly. Tighten loose screws, but avoid overtightening, which can strip the wood. 4. Clean the Contact Area Dust and dirt can affect vibration. Wipe the brass springs with a soft cloth. Clean the inside of the front panel where the springs touch. 5. Repair Bent Brass Springs If the springs are only slightly bent: Use needle-nose pliers. Bend them back slowly to their original shape. Avoid repeated bending, as brass can fatigue and crack. 6. Replace Damaged Springs Replace the springs if they: Are cracked or broken. Have lost their elasticity. Produce inconsistent buzzing even after adjustment. 7. Check the Front Panel (Tapa) If the front panel is warped or loose: Tighten the perimeter screws. Replace damaged screws if necessary. A warped tapa may need replacement for the best sound
