#kia #sportage #suv The KIA Sportage is a family SUV which has not just seen huge success worldwide, but also closer to home; here in the UK! Last year KIA registered over 47,000 new Sportages onto the road, making it the 2nd best selling car, just beaten by the Ford Puma. It is however the bestseller in its class, beating the likes of the VW Tiguan, Ford Kuga and even more affordable options like the MG HS & Jaecoo 7. The fan favourite has just received a facelift which I was lucky enough to check out, thanks to KIA UK. Tough competition in the SUV space, means that KIA have not kept still, deciding to facelift the Sportage even when the previous model was selling so well. Changes include; a tweaked front & rear design, new alloy wheel designs, more powerful hybrid engines, suspension tweaks, new interior design, standard Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, to name a few changes! I tested out the hybrid models (HEV), firstly the Sportage GT-Line S AWD HEV and then the Sportage GT-Line HEV FWD. I found the FWD model felt quite a bit nippier & provided much better MPG, getting close to its 50.4MPG official figure, whereas the AWD achieved around 43MPG, still not far off the claimed 44MPG. Pure petrols models are also offered throughout the range & even available with a manual gearbox on base spec ‘Pure’ and mid-spec ‘GT-Line’ models. A PHEV will be added to the Sportage lineup later on this year. Thanks for watching!
