Self Doubt & Self Confidence in Medical School | My Journey and Struggles as a Medical Student

Hi everyone, in this video I talk about my struggles and journey with my self confidence and self doubt in medical school - and even before medical school! insta: @rachpray Medical school is definitely not easy, and it is not the aesthetic vlogs and instagram pictures that it sometimes looks like it is. Your mindset and how you process the stress, the requirements to even get into medical school, and the process of getting into residency are your greatest tools that you have. I'm not trying to discredit people that struggle with mental illnesses like depression and anxiety - things that make it harder for them to have control of their thoughts - but I'm just highlighting some things that have worked for me. And I'm also not trying to say that it is easy to be in control of your thoughts, because it certainly isn't. It's a constant struggle of not feeling good enough, doubting yourself, and feeling so overwhelmed, but then picking yourself up, working hard, and feeling like you've made some progress, only to start the cycle again. I know that sounds pretty sad, but it is honestly my reality, and I think it's the reality of many other medical students. But that's why it's so important to take care of yourself during medical school, find other hobbies, take breaks, and to reach out for help. Your life can't just be school, or else you will be drowning in a sea of self doubt, stress, and anxiety. Let me know what your thoughts are and if you can relate to my journey at all!
