The best radio spots are not found by wandering aimlessly and widely around the area, but at home at your desk, yes indeed, at home from your desk. Some time ago, I discovered a 21-meter-high observation tower hidden in the woods, or rather at the edge of the forest, using Google Maps' bird's-eye view. So, I got off the sofa, packed my little bit of cutlery, and set off. After I had stretched my 10m Spiderbeam and my EasyFed prototype (from 2020) towards the sky, I could finally get started. With initially low DX QRM of S2, I was able to understand all stations perfectly, even if they only reached me with S3 (like the "Red Eagle" with his Grazioli-5/8). In contrast, the "couch potatoes" in urban areas, with their RF interference between S5 and S6, had a much harder time reading weaker stations. I found it particularly disappointing that my colleague "Gucki-Lucki" could barely hear me with my handheld radio (Lafayette Urano) because I could hardly (if at all) penetrate his local S8 interference with my handheld receiver and antenna 😕 (despite only being a few kilometers away and his powerful Grazioli G-Max)... oh well, it'll work next time. I then cut my radio session short, firstly because dark clouds were gathering (it started to drizzle lightly) and secondly because the DX-QRM (long-distance propagation via skywave) from Greece (at times reaching up to S9) was still simply drizzling over our local conversations 😕... I'm already looking forward to undisturbed QSOs where the timer will soon be back on S0 during the pauses in the conversation (so (Like 5-6 years ago), solar activity is already declining again, wonderful! 👍 And finally: As always, I humbly thank all active stations, as well as all listeners, carriers, and parrots (without you, CB radio wouldn't be what it is 😜).
